"Put Me in the Zoo"

This past Tuesday, Sari, Witten, Kylie and I decided to spend the day at the Jacksonville Zoo! Oh and what a great day it was! The zoo is about a half an hour from our apartment and super easy to get to. We arrived around 9:15am with strollers, diaper bags, water bottles, purses, snacks, sack lunches, sunscreen, and cameras in hand. The temperature was hot, especially for us northerners, at 89 degrees. It was also really humid. We were all covered in slimy sweat by the time we left. Kylie's hair was so cute...It gets really curly when she gets sweaty! :) We were able to get through half of the zoo before lunch. At lunch time, we went out to the car to sit in the AC and enjoy our lunches for a bit. After lunch, we went through the other half of the zoo. We hit up the gift shop (where I bought Kylie a book called, "Emily Elephant") before we left, and made it home by nap time at 3:00pm!

It is a wonderful zoo with many great exhibits! The Africa exhibit was one of our favorites and it included lions, giraffes, zebras, elephants and rhinos. There was also a South America exhibit with jaguars, poisonous frogs and venomous snakes. The Australia exhibit was small but included Kylie's favorite animal, the kangaroo! There was a Wild Florida exhibit with alligators, bears and panthers. Another exhibit was called, "Great Apes" which included gorillas, chimps and lemurs! Finally, there was also a little water park for the little kids to play! Witten loved it!

...but this is what she saw! It's Kylie's favorite animal doing what Kylie does best...He's a sleeping kangaroo!

Like the kangaroo, Kylie slept the entire time we were at the zoo, but I was just happy she was able to stay comfortable in the heat! Jon teased me about taking Kylie to the zoo when she can't appreciate it, but the truth is that I really wanted to go to the zoo for my own enjoyment! :) And it was a blast!
